Parade College is the oldest Christian Brothers School in Australia, dating back to its inception at Victoria Parade, East Melbourne in 1871. One hundred boys enrolled at the new bluestone school established by four Christian Brothers newly arrived from Ireland. The College moved out of the city in 1968 to a large property on the northern fringe of Melbourne. The College’s name is derived from this original location.
Today, Parade is a school of two campuses located at Bundoora and Preston, with an enrolment of over 1850 boys. Whilst our size and locations have changed significantly over the past 144 years, Parade’s focus has always been the same – the holistic education of young men, with great emphasis placed on their academic, spiritual, cultural, creative and physical development.
Our staff are very experienced in educating boys and we place great importance on striving towards fulfilling the pillars of our College Mission Statement – Education in Faith, Teaching and Learning, Student Wellbeing, Leadership and Management, and School Community. Parade’s school motto is “Tenete Traditiones”, which translates from Latin as “Hold Fast The Traditions” (St Paul).
